Stress.
Not exactly the answer people expect, but hear me out.
Stress is usually painted as the bad guy. And most of the time, it deserves the title. It makes you short-tempered. It follows you home from work. It steals your sleep, your patience, and sometimes your ability to enjoy the people you are working so hard for.
But stress does have a point.
It usually shows up when something is out of balance.
Too much debt. Too much work. Too little rest. Too many promises. Not enough time with your family. Not enough breathing room between what life costs and what you bring home.
Stress is not always wrong when it says, “Hey, something needs to change.”
The problem is when we ignore it for so long that it stops being a warning light and becomes the whole dashboard.
As dads, husbands, parents, and regular people trying to keep life moving, we do not always get to remove stress completely. Bills still show up. Kids still need us. Work still has deadlines. Life still happens.
But maybe the goal is not to pretend stress does not exist.
Maybe the goal is to listen before it starts running the house.
Because sometimes the villain is not wrong.
Sometimes he is just way too loud.
